The Marodyne LiV is the first medical device in the World to be clinically approved to increase and maintain Bone Mineral Density and the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. This works by sending a precise signal to stimulate your bone-building factories to get to work making bone, without the use of drugs, no side-effects and no contra-indications.
The mechanical signals emitted are simulating the precursor or the progenitor population for bone cells that live in the bone marrow, the mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). Also, the device looks at muscle and muscle wasting, which leads to a lack neuro-muscular control and ultimately to a loss of balance and increased incidence of falls.
Through LiV, bone is grown, muscles are stimulated, circulation is increased and balance and mobility are improved. This is the result of almost 40 years of research from one of the foremost bio-medical engineers Professor Clint Rubin, in collaboration with NASA and the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Potentially we will have weights to enable you to do weight bearing exercises while you are doing your daily targeted osteoporosis routine.
The iJoy™ Ride – a unique and exciting way to work out! It has been engineered to work your core muscles by challenging your balance. It does all the work – you just sit back, keep your balance, and have fun!
The iJoy™ Ride’s three-axis motion is reminiscent of riding a horse and challenges three different muscle groups:
- a pitching motion for toning the abs
- a rolling motion for strengthening inner thighs and mid torso muscles
- a yawing motion for working the lumbar muscles.
You can test your skills by varying the speed of the iJoy™ Ride or choose the auto-programme and let the iJoy™ Ride take control; dishing out a combination of all four speeds. You really can’t go wrong working out on the iJoy™ Ride. As you work to keep your balance you are working and toning your core muscles.
The PowerTube
The battery operated PowerTube devices are safe and very easy to handle.
The transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation devices correspond with the nerve points within the body and these in turn are directly stimulated by the painlessly- delivered. electronic impulses.
The device can be used by people themselves in The Clinic under supervision.
Clearlight Infrared sauna
Infrared heat is required for all living things for optimum health. Clearlight® infrared sauna produces the same infrared heat produced by the sun (but is not the sun’s burning rays). The radiant heat from the infrared sauna surrounds you and penetrates deeply into your joints, muscles and tissues increasing oxygen flow and circulation. Helping to remove impurities from your cells, specifically the cells inside our fat where our body stores waste and harmful toxins such as cholesterol and heavy metals. When used properly, your Clearlight® infrared sauna will help improve your overall wellness.
Infrared heat is all around us and you have felt it from sources like fire, heated sand on the beach and the sun (without the harmful ultraviolet waves that the sun gives off). Just as visible light has a range of wavelengths (running from red to violet), so does infrared light: longer wavelength infrared waves are thermal, while short or near infrared waves are not hot at all, in fact, you cannot even feel them. It is the far infrared energy that is most beneficial, penetrating the skin and increasing circulation to help rid the body of harmful toxins. Near and mid infrared enhance the benefits of far infrared including:
- Weight Loss and increased metabolism
- Muscle pain relief
- Immune system boost
- Detoxification
- Improves the appearance of cellulite
- Eases joint pain and stiffness
- Stress and fatigue reduction
- Improves skin
Molecular Hydrogen Therapy
Molecular hydrogen or H2 gas is a very small neutrally charged molecule that has the ability to cross cell membranes and the blood-brain barrier. This gives it the unique ability to access DNA and mitochondria within the cell where it has protective action.
Free radicals are uncharged or unstable molecules, which make them highly reactive and extremely likely that they’ll pull apart pieces of other molecules to gain stability. In their search for stability, they can damage your body. Sometimes this can result in chain reactions. Antioxidants are molecules that safely stabilise free radicals and reduce the amount of damage that can be done.
Molecular hydrogen has so many wonderful benefits and acts as a powerful antioxidant neutralising free radicals that contribute to disease progression.
- Hydrogen acts as an antioxidant
- Hydrogen supports your body’s antioxidant system
- Hydrogen is anti-inflammatory
- Hydrogen may help reduce pain
- Hydrogen protects your muscles
- Hydrogen can speed up sport-related recovery
- Hydrogen can help balance the pH of the blood
- Hydrogen affects cell modulation
- Hydrogen is neuro-protective
- Hydrogen is protective against metabolic conditions
- Hydrogen boosts your mitochondria
- Hydrogen protects against DNA damage
- Hydrogen can calm allergic reactions
- Hydrogen is protective against cancer
- Hydrogen protects organs
The Revolutionary CellSonic VIPP
The CellSonic VIPP machine is a new branch of medicine that kills infection and triggers tissue regeneration. The origins of the technology go back forty years to the first ever non-invasive surgery; removing kidney stones by shattering them with sound waves.
Since then the technology has been developed with new applications discovered. Drugs are not used so there are no side effects. VIPP is Very Intense Pressure Pulses which are fast bangs made by flashing high voltages across an electrode in a reflector containing water in a shock head. A special gel is placed between the shock head and the patient. The resultant pressure wave travels through the body (the body being largely water) and corrects unhealthy cells without harming the healthy ones.
CellSonic emits very intense pressure pulses (VIPP) four times a second that kill viruses, bacteria and parasites. It is not necessary to know what the germs are or exactly where they are. More oxygen is sent in the blood to the site. Vascularisation is increased. Nitric oxide is increased. Stem cells of the right type in the right quantity are sent to exactly the right location under instructions from the immune system which is alerted by the CellSonic VIPP. New skin is grown embedded with nerves. Nerves that served severed limbs are re-programmed to stop phantom pain.
All this happens within the CellSonic treatment. No drugs are used and there are no side effects.
September Update
Queen Camel Community Land Trust
Hello everyone! We trust you have had a happy and refreshing summer holiday despite the disappearance of the heatwave. During this holiday period, refurbishment has continued apace at the Old School. This includes the transformation of one room into a hairdressing salon which Lisa Hinks plans to open on 7th September. A huge vote of thanks to husband, Rob, and other members of her family who have worked so hard to help us achieve this deadline – and our very best wishes to Lisa from everyone already at the Old School.
Since the last edition of this magazine we are delighted to tell you there are three new enterprises starting by or during October. These are
- ‘Lucy’s Beauties’, by Lucy Stone, a beauty therapist: face–hands–feet. Facebook: @sparkfordbeautys;
- ‘The Old School Day Centre’ for people with complex needs, by Ewelina Wiesner owner of Silverstars Care, who says, “Our aim is to offer day activities and a hot meal to enable and stimulate, for example people with dementia. In addition, we would like to offer help around learning new skills (e.g. employment opportunity) for people with learning disabilities”; and
- The Clinic’, by Kit & Simon Stapely, who will be providing a holistic health clinic which will help those who suffer from, for example, Osteoporosis, Multiple Sclerosis and similar afflictions, and much more.
Each of the above will have their own websites and/or Facebook (and other social media) sites which in turn will be linked to the Old School website. To achieve their opening plans and like Lisa & Rob, they will be helping the Old School band of volunteers to transform their rooms.
While this is happening, the external transformation of the old school hall by HFP is continuing. For a (short) while it might become a white box, The length of ‘short’ is somewhat dependent on paint supplies – suppliers are struggling to get stock – but this does give Perry a little longer to design a mural!
Art Exhibition: tenant Andy Palmer, is holding an exhibition of his work from 18th September to 3rd October.
This is part of Somerset Art Works’ ‘Open Studios’ event across Somerset. More information can be found on their website: www.somersetartworks.org.uk.
We (CLT) hope to have restarted our art gallery by that date. Some of you will remember we had started this before the advent of Covid but when the first lockdown came upon us we returned most of the art to its owners. We hope that all readers of this magazine may wish to visit this exhibition, noting of course that Cam’s Kitchen is open on Wednesday-Friday and Saturday morning and usually the artisans in the Pods in the old hall will also be open for you to visit.
We had originally planned that the anniversary of our acquisition of the site, 3rd May 2019, would become our annual open event but Covid stopped that happening for two years. Our forward plan for next year is to dovetail our open event with the village celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (from Thursday 2nd to Sunday 5th June). This is just an early notice so that you can mark the dates.
As always enquiries through admin@oldschoolqueencamel.org.uk or to 01935 850254.
July Update
Queen Camel Community Land Trust Ltd
Over the weekend Rachel from HFP reminded me that another deadline was upon us; how quickly the months fly by and already we are almost half-way to Christmas! Since the last edition we have completed creating the front garden beds with a very special thank you to Geoff Wilson (a former resident of Queen Camel and Chairman of our Horticultural Society) who designed and then built the rockery (in the rain) with the help of Steve M and Bob & Helen and then visited again to oversee the planting and final touches (in the heatwave!).
During June we had the arrival of a launderette machine, which has washing drums for18 and 8kg and a dryer for up to 18kg. We hope that many from the local and wider community will find this a very useful facility.
Last month we mentioned a hairdresser. We hope that the salon will be ready for opening from September and for September we are also planning an open event and art exhibition, details of both next month. We will still have parts of the buildings to be refurbished and the gardens to be reclaimed but progress is continuing.
As always enquiries through admin@oldschoolqueencamel.org.uk or to 01935 850254
The Old School site is a buzz with people coming and going. HFP staff are relishing the community atmosphere that is growing. It really is great to see. We also welcome Cam’s Kitchen where we are very pleased to have a place for a coffee break from the office.
The Artisan Project in the completely refurbished old school hall now welcomes visitors, and if you have a business start-up idea you would like help with, please contact Rachel at rachel@homefirstplus.co.uk or on 01935 319006.
We now have three of the seven pods occupied so please drop in and visit Affinity Art’s glass and photography, Stepstone Pottery’s pizza stones and Happily Ever Opal’s resin jewellery. All produce other handmade gifts. Ask any and they will make something specific to your bespoke wishes.
All the extras on site are helping to increase footfall to the Old School.
HFP will also be partnering with the Community Council for Somerset (CCS) in a Talking Café Facebook Live session at the end of July, talking about all the services we provide.

May Update and News
Queen Camel Community Land Trust
Our second anniversary of buying the Old School was on 3rd May (above picture just before this, with the Ad Hoc notice still on the gate). We were not able to celebrate either the first or the second anniversaries due to lockdowns but hopefully we will have a big party for the third next year – ideas welcome.
In last month’s issue we congratulated Christine & Ian on the successful start of Cam’s Kitchen. This week they were delighted to start welcoming visitors to their tables inside – dry and warm and out of the wind. We were delighted that in the nick of time we finished decorating the first of two toilets for the use of visitors in this Victorian building. The second will be completed as soon as possible.
This month we record a welcome to the Benefice Office (and our congratulations to Revd. Katharine on her engagement). We have noted that they also love Christine’s coffee!
We hope in the not-too-distant future and before the end of this year to welcome a hairdresser, a local person whose name will be announced when we have finalised arrangements.
The front gardens are coming along well – a very big ‘thank you’ to Bob & Helen for hours of care and to Claire for planting suggestions and also to Geoff who gallantly battles with the leaves and grass. More volunteers for the garden and/or painting (that 4th bridge) would be very welcome. We also still have some workspace – as always enquiries through admin@oldschoolqueencamel.org.uk or to 01935 850254.

Cam’s Kitchen Update
Queen Camel Community Land Trust at the Old School
We are delighted to be able to record our congratulations to Christine & Ian Richardson on a successful launch of Cam’s Kitchen. The coffee and food are great but also of great importance is the warm welcome and atmosphere. If you have not yet visited then we commend this café to you (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. and Saturday until 2.30 p.m.).
Cam’s Kitchen website www.camskitchen.co.uk
You will spot that the old school sign has been given a place of honour in the café.
We are still looking for old school memorabilia. Our plan is to make the passageway behind what were the classrooms in this Victorian building into a historical archive. This may become one of next winter’s projects.
I also want to record thanks to those who worked so hard to meet the opening deadline. It included painting every tile on the ceiling and filling more gaps and holes on the walls than could be numbered.
If you are interested in work or art space at the Old School please contact admin@oldschoolqueencamel.org.uk

HomeFirst Plus (HFP) is slowly coming back onto the Old School site and a member of staff is now present every day. We have every kind of mobility aid available. These include electric wheelchairs, stairlifts, armchairs, as well as specially adapted bath and shower rooms. We can now offer viewings of our seven self-contained Pods for start-up businesses and welcome you to inquire either within or by e-mail through rachel@homefirstplus.co.uk. We offer business growth advice and a space to try out your business ideas, and build a supportive trading community. With Cam’s Kitchen having such a successful start, the site will become a hive of activity and creativity over the coming months.
We are also looking for empty homes that we will manage on behalf of the owner and, where needed, will improve using sustainable materials.
The CLT has continued working tirelessly on the site, and now that volunteers are returning, the gardens are taking on a whole new look. RW
Cam’s Kitchen is now open!
A very exciting morning – the first day of the cafe (takeaway only at the moment, due to COVID restrictions). It’s all looking (and tasting) good

March updates from RHC & news on the Café
The year is flying by and this week (21st March as I write) we commemorate a year since our first lockdown. Little did any of us know what lay ahead. It has affected everyone in some way, some with deep pain and sadness, others with great financial loss, many experiencing very real loneliness and most with a greater realisation of how we previously took so much for granted.
At the Old School we have not been able to do all we had planned and this includes starting a café from January but we have pressed on where we could and are delighted to tell our readers that after Easter our café tenants, Ian & Christine Richardson, will start a take-away service pending being able to open the café. We are all looking forward to freshly ground coffee and homemade cakes as well as other goodies that Christine is planning – do visit her website.
Next month we hope to be able to give an update on HomeFirst Plus’s Pod initiative that is awaiting release from lockdown. Any enquiries in respect of HFP or the Pods to rachel@homefirstplus.co.uk, please.
We are still welcoming plants – shrubs, herbs, perennials, and all hardy, and also gardening tools, watering cans, etc.

Cam’s Kitchen… watch this space!
If you have walked past the Old School recently, you will have seen the signs for the Cafe. We are counting down the days to when we can welcome you in. Of course, initially, it will be takeaway only, due to the COVID lock-down rules, but when you arrive, I think you’ll see your Administrator first in the queue to buy a slice of Christine’s baking…
